With Vampire Diaries fans still reeling over the decision of Nina Dobrev to depart the series at the conclusion of this season, one can’t help but wonder:
How do the star’s colleagues feel about this pending departure?
And now we have our very first answer to that question.
Appearing on VH1’s Big Morning Buzz today, Kat Graham was asked about Dobrev and responded that her friend’s resignation is "bittersweet," adding:
"We’re all family, and you always want to stay together forever, but everyone has their journey, and all you can do is wish them well and support them. This was a decision that I know was made a long, long time ago. I’m just excited for her, and to see what’s next."
In her Instagram post announcing the move, Dobrev said she had always planned for her role as Elena Gilbert to only last six seasons.
Still, many wonder if her surprising career decision has anything to do with ex-boyfriend and ongoing co-star Ian Somerhalder being engaged to Nikki Reed.
According to at least one story, Reed is thrilled that Dobrev is leaving the series.
Graham, meanwhile, also promised a “cool, epic battle in the finale” to wrap up The Vampire Diaries Season 6, but the question now remains:
Will Elena survive this battle? Or will The CW drama kill off its lead female protagonist?
