Kostas Antetokounmpo was born on November 20, 1997, to Nigerian parents, lt. Charles Antetokounmpo and Veronica Antetokounmpo.

His father was of Yoruba ethnicity, and his mother is from the Igbo Nigerian ethnic group.

Antetokounmpo comes from an athletic family. His father, Charles, was a national-level soccer player in Nigeria, and his mother, Veronica, was a high jumper.

His father and mother were immigrants in the Greek, where they lived in hardship, as employment was hardly available for the immigrants.
